Safety is constantly top-of-mind at ISTI. We are committed to a safe and accident-free workplace, and are very proud of our low workers compensation NCCI Experience Modifier of .71. With four total recordable incidents in 2013, ISTI recorded total man-hours for all employees in 2013 at 1,844,831.
Our managers, supervisors, site safety coordinators and foremen are responsible for the safety of their team members and lead by example. Each employee also accepts responsibility for their own safety and must comply with all safety rules and practices. And of course we have a strict drug and alcohol policy.
We can design a site-specific safety plan (SSSP) that defines procedures for all phases of each unique project. In addition, site superintendents and foremen conduct daily Job Safety Analysis (JSAs) and safety meetings, enforcing the use of proper PPE, 100% Tie-Off, and overall safety on the site. On site safety coordinators are provided for jobs requiring a labor force of 25 or more workers.

From the time thousands of pounds of raw steel are delivered to our facility for a job, to when the finished plant is assembled at our clients’ site, our process is driven by our employees’ unsurpassed attention to detail. Before a job can proceed to the next stage in the production phase, our quality control team ensures perfection at every turn. Our workmanship is designed to last.
ISTI’s quality control process begins at the receipt of materials and ends at the commissioning of the plant, with inspectors for each discipline of the fabrication and installation process in the shop as well as the field. ISTI’s quality standards exceed any governing codes or standards and allow ease of integration of any client specification requirements. A daily log is utilized on every weld made in our five shops, providing the current real time status of any component within a few hours.
ISTI works closely with clients’ inspectors and maintains a private office for all customer inspectors. All ISTI inspectors receive continuing education in several disciplines including visual testing and inspection, film interpretation, dye penetrant testing and are certified as a level II in VT and RT.
Each inspector has their own computer terminal and is competent in several programs including Excel and Word. ISTI’s quality control program does not end when the equipment has left the shop. It is tailored to take the product from materials receiving through fit-up, welding, assembly, testing, coating, installation in the field, start-up and commissioning.
